This is long overdue and I meant to send this to you weeks ago…

The first moment we arrived, as we turned off the main road onto the path to your cabin right by the bridge that crossed the creek, we had to drive through all these beautiful butterflies, it was as if they were greeting us. To paint a visual, it was like driving into a fairy tail. And then you drive around the corner and see your welcoming cabin and you just feel instantly at peace.

Needless to say, my husband and I loved our vacation at your cabin. We knew it was going to be a pleasant stay but we never expected to feel so refreshed. It was hard to leave by the time our week was up. We truly felt like we were new people, relaxed, refreshed and ready to face the busy working world again.

During our stay we cooked many meals in your gourmet kitchen that was supplied with everything you could think of. I loved the stove on the counter and that “homey” feeling of being right there in the family room while cooking. We enjoyed the spa everyday. It was so cool how it was right off of the deck and you could just stare up at all those trees and feel like a piece of the mountain side, listening to that natural music, courtesy of all the birds in the area. The deck was cool too, along with the gas BBQ. That was yet another delicious and savory treat. We grilled a couple of times and ate our meals on the deck. It was like a honeymoon all over again.

We both took unplanned naps (how could we help ourselves as the sound of the creek would just put us out.) We watched several movies with your home theater and WOW that was beyond cool! We played several games of Yahtzee and cards, as the time seemed to pass so slow… actually, I don’t recall having so much free time since my childhood and by no means is that a complaint. It was a welcomed experience that we will cherish always.

Oh yeah, we did have one visitor during our stay. This visitor came to see us 5 different times. It was a deer that would walk past the front of the cabin, usually around dusk. One time she brought a friend along and that deer was huge. It was a magical and magnificent sight.

We would recommend to anyone who is interested in staying at the Creek Side Cabin, just book your stay and experience this little gift for yourself.

Well, it is difficult to find appropriate words to describe this incredible "cabin" (according to Matt, "cabin" is a misnomer, 'villa' is a more apt description). Wow!! There are so many wonderful things about it -- first, the location, of course, is to die for. Second, the house is absolutely wonderful. It is elegant yet very homey and comfortable. I love the setup of the kitchen/living/dining area. My son, who knows me well, commented that this was my perfect house. He was right. I love having the kitchen be a part of everything else.

Being a detail person, I have noticed and appreciated so many things: the well-appointed rooms, the leather furniture, the soothing beds with the most perfect linens and pillows, the thick and soft towels, the quality of the cookware and the has-everything-you-could-ever-wish-for kitchen, reading lights and tables with drawers just where you want them, overhead fans in all the right places, and last, but certainly not least (especially where Matt is concerned), the home entertainment system is the best we have ever experienced.

Thank you for sharing your Shangri-La with us. We have cherished our time here. We will be sad to leave but will have delicious memories to sustain us.

Thank you for sharing your perfect home with us. We truly enjoyed our stay, and couldn't believe when the week was over. The serenity of the surroundings was the best of all. We felt we were truly out in the wilderness, yet staying at a 5 Star hotel! Your cabin is beautifully decorated, yet comfortable and relaxing. I was a bit worried about keeping two teenage city boys busy, not a problem! They spent all of their time at the creek, in the swim holes or exploring. They also had a great time fishing on the Sacramento River (trying anyway). We took a fishing boat toward the upper arm of the river by the railroad trestle, we shored the boat at a beach and the boys swam across the river to a long rope that was hanging from a huge tree towering above the river, well you can just about imagine how much fun they had with that, I got some great pictures. Another day we rented a ski boat and both of the boys tried wakeboarding for their very first time, they got up quickly and looked like pros, (must be all the skateboarding!). My husband unfortunately didn't have any luck fishing on the creek, the river or in the lake, but he gave it a good try. He did enjoy relaxing with his cold beer in the forest.

The first morning that we woke up, I looked out the bathroom window and saw a family of deer, three adults and two fawns. The fawns were spotted and were playing with each other like a couple of puppies, it was so amazing! We saw them two or three times again throughout the week. One of my favorite experiences was taking my sand chair down to the stream, setting it right in the middle of the water and sitting for hours and reading (unfortunately I dropped the book I'm reading for my Bible study group in the water, but it came out barely damaged!).

I wanted to let you know that we had a bit of trouble trying to lock the sliding door in the master bedroom, so we didn't open it much. Everything else worked perfectly.

Well, I'm sure this is way more than you wanted to read, but thanks again! We truly feel blessed that we were able to enjoy your home in that beautiful setting, as I'm sure you feel blessed in owning it. Please feel free to use any parts of my ramblings for your web page. We certainly want to return!

Dear Cynthia & Chris,

We just returned from our all too brief time at your cabin. We just wanted to let you know how much we appreciated the little courtesies you provided - such as the champagne and card for our 25th anniversary. Although the weather was way too hot to enjoy the surroundings mid-day, we had a terrific time in the early mornings - breakfast on the deck, bird watching, and a summer rainstorm. In the afternoons we made great use of the DVD player, read in the cool comfort of the cabin, played games and relaxed. The only problem we encountered was finding matches because the automatic lighter for the BBQ did not work. Other than that it was problem free. Oh, by the way, we loved the comfort of the beds. We are confirmed waterbed users and the foam beds were great! All the amenities were obviously new and of high quality. It suited our needs perfectly!

Yes, we all had a wonderful time at the cabin! And yes, it was HOT!! Thankfully, though, we do have a boat and made our daily excursions down to the lake for some fun skiing and swimming.

Your cabin was absolutely superb! It was so nice to stay somewhere that we didn't have to bring the dishes, pots or pans, linens, towels, etc. (which makes a lot less packing and weighing down of vehicles). The location was close enough to the lake for our annual boating adventures, yet distant enough for some relaxation and seclusion. My whole family loved the furnishings, the open decks, and of course the creeks nearby. (By the way, I absolutely love the furniture in one of the bedrooms with the queen bed...the one that had the stuffed giraffe in it. Do you mind telling me where you got the set?)

My mom went down to the creek the first day and picked enough blackberries to make a berry cobbler that evening. What a treat that was! The entertainment system was enough to satisfy my two nieces (and help get them to sleep) watching a long movie! I could go on and on...each family member had their own wonderful things to say about our stay there!! We all felt that we were vacationing in luxury!

I was a little hesitant to add this to your book as I do not want the rest of the Bay Area to know about this special place. Even though it rained the majority of the time we were there, I can say that it made my anniversary even more romantic cuddling next to the fireplace and sipping champagne while the deer nibbled on the lawn. On the cold nights, we enjoyed warming up by the pot belly stove and relaxing in the quiet surroundings. During the days, we found some marvelous hikes. Thierry also had some success fishing and caught a beautiful rainbow trout. We were very comfortable at your home. Everything from the leather couches to the orthopedic pillows in the Master Bedroom to the warm ambiance...it was all very appreciated.

Dear Chris and Cynthia,

We LOVED it! We turned off on the road late afternoon and I had the map from the Internet, but misread it...and as we were "wandering" along the road, a nice man and his two children drove up on mini-bikes and we asked him if he knew where it was. He indicated that he knew there was a rental around, but wasn't sure if that was the one we were looking for........we showed him the picture and he said "Let me go look where I think it is." He came back and said "If that is it, you sure have rented a nice place!" We were very impressed as we drove up with how neat and clean the cabin AND grounds were. We were gone from Texas for 16 days and stayed in a number of places and all agreed Creekside was our favorite! Wish it were closer, we'd go back often to enjoy the quiet and the outdoors. The cabin was immaculate!

We had a much better than expected time. Your home was very nicely prepared and offered both convenience and comfort. The best way to describe your property would be remote elegance. We felt like we were in a mini-4-star suite totally isolated from the city. We often stay at vacation homes but found yours to be much higher quality and comfortable. We have already discussed a spring vacation up there so expect to hear from us early next year.

There was rain going up and coming down but not too bad when we were there. Snow level was a little higher than normal but kids had lots of fun skiing and snow sledding.

As we approached and saw the cabin and the property we knew we were going to have a wonderfully relaxing weekend! The interior of the cabin could not have been more inviting, from the moment we walked in, we felt at home! We appreciated all of the “extras” that made it so exceptional, the DVD collection, satellite TV and sound system to name a few! The exterior was so incredible, as we sat on the deck, we could hear the calming waters of the creek nearby. One evening we even had a family of deer approach the cabin as we sat outside. We were able to take advantage of many of the activities the area had to offer, cave tours, fishing and hiking. The weather was beautiful all weekend! We had a wonderful time at the Creekside Cabin. Everything is so beautiful. The peace and quiet was really nice. It was very relaxing. We are definitely going to come back next year! One night when we were BBQing a deer walked right by us. She didn't even run. The morning we were to leave, I saw a momma and her two babies. I was even able to go outside and take pictures of them. Hi Chris and Cynthia,

My family and I had a fantastic time at the cabin this summer. The week went by so quickly, it was hard to believe it was over. We started off our trip by floating around Shasta Lake on a patio boat. What fun! We would find a beach we liked, ram ashore, spend a while, and then on to the next. It was a great way to explore the lake.

The next event was a hike on Mt. Shasta to ‘Horse Flats’. First stop was in Dunsmuir for a great breakfast to fuel our adventure, then on to the Trailhead. Our 5 and 9 year old sons made it to Horse Flats with almost no complaining! There is a really neat mountaineering cabin there that you can walk into and enjoy. There was lots of snow, but mild temperatures and lots of sunshine aided our journey. Great views, and we met some really neat people.

Another day was spent on a mountain biking trip up the fire road on the other side of the freeway. It was a long, fun trip. Great scenery, not too strenuous, it was just a nice winding ride through the forest.

Of course we had to get in some ‘relax’ time in somewhere, so another day was spent firing up the BBQ, cracking open some cold ones, and hanging around the cabin. It was a great way to unwind and recharge the batteries. At some point a deer wandered into the meadow, laid down and apparently took a nap. I realized at this point I was really having a great time!

Another trip to the lake was in order to finish up the trip. This time we got a ski boat. Everybody had fun tubing and waterskiing. Couldn’t get the boys out of the water! Now this is a vacation!

I really had a great time, and my family did as well. Thanks for all your hospitality; it was a trip that we will never forget.

Sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner, as the start of the school year
has crept up on us. Maybe that was because we were having such a nice time at
the cabin.

I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed it!! It was awesome. We have
traveled a bit and last summer went to Hawaii and stayed at a resort in Maui.
And yet, my wife said that this time at your cabin was "her best vacation
ever". She is truly a "mountain person" and even our two children had a
fabulous time hanging out in the creeks and on the Sacramento River. The deer
were beautiful in the morning, and I enjoyed the bats flying around the large
flood light at night too! We were so very impressed with the accommodations.
All the facilities look brand new! This certainly was not a typical "rental"
facility. We truly felt like we were in our own home. This was a very unique
experience. Thank you for letting us make some great family memories! If
permission granted, I'm sure we'd love to do it again in the future.

The cabin is beautiful and all your little touches made us feel at home immediately. Starting with the champagne and welcome note when we arrived to the games and movies you shared to the fresh coffee beans to grind each morning, the personal touches made the experience superb! And the "home-liness" feeling was even more appreciated when we were forced indoors by 2 1/2 days of pouring rain. And two beautiful deer made an appearance nearly every day. The trip was exactly what we were looking for. A wonderful escape into nature that was revitalizing and relaxing! We've just returned from a long 4th of July weekend at your beautiful creekside cabin, and would like to thank you for providing an ideal environment for our holiday get-away. The accommodations were even more beautiful in person than they were in the pictures on your website, and we all appreciated the efforts you made to make your cabin so warm and welcoming. The decor was attractive and comfortable, the amenities were spectacular, and the area was perfect for a gathering of close friends. Surrounded by dense forest and the peaceful gurgle of the nearby stream, we felt truly relaxed. It was so convenient not to have to bring all of our own pots, pans, dishes, towels, and blankets along for the trip, and the hot tub was a huge hit after a long day of outdoor exploration and adventure! Hi Chris

Wow, where to start. We were looking to get away from it all, be near water to jet ski and swim, maintain communication to the outside world so I could stay in touch with my crews around the world and enjoy the great outdoors with as little interaction with humans as possible, we sure found it at the Creekside Cabin (cabin being the understatement of the century).

We found everything we were hoping for and more, 10 minutes away from a great public launch, even with the lake being so low, the beach on the upper Sacramento was fabulous and we will always remember the days spent floating the rapids, swimming and a bit of cliff diving/jumping. The Satellite Wi-Fi was perfect to maintain communication in the early morning hours while the rest of the family was still sleeping. The home is beautifully furnished, the king in the master bedroom was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in.

The kitchen and all of the cookware and utensils were top quality, seldom do you encounter this in a vacation rental. The TV and satellite was great, however I did my best to keep it turned off and enjoy all of the other activities that were available, it was nice to sit down and watch the Summer Olympics at night as well as some of the pre-season NFL games.

The wildlife was always present, there was a doe with two fawns that would head down to the creek for water on a daily basis which was great to witness.The strawberries off of the deck and the wild blackberries at the end of the drive were an added bonus. Of course the hot-tub in the evenings was a favorite of all.

Thanks again for the use of your wonderful home, I have been all around the world working and playing and this trip and location is definitely at the top of favorites list. The Creekside Cabin is the perfect spot, it had the seclusion that we were looking for but an endless selection of fantastic nearby activities to partake in. We will definitely be repeat guests at your wonderful retreat. Thank you so much for making this available!!

We arrived on Christmas Eve, it was snowing when we drove up to the house. We entered the house to a nice note welcoming us back, some yummy microwave popcorn, a GREAT Champagne (and I normally hate champagne, wine, etc.) and a huge bowl of M&M's :-) perfect & wonderfully thoughtful!

We enjoyed a soak in the hot tub on the day of our arrival WHILE it was snowing! I had been envisioning that for weeks, and it happened I was so delighted. Then we went up the hill for a little hike and made a snowman (OK, a snowman so what you say, well I think I've made two in my whole life and it was fun!). It really is like being alone in the forest, we didn't see a single other human being. We set up one of the love seats in front of the huge window in the great room and watched it snow :-)

We never left, we were there for 4 nights so we brought enough food for all of our meals and we cooked. The kitchen is GREAT I love the gas (possibly propane) cook top, the oven is pretty close to what I have at home (and love), and the fridge is great. There is pretty much everything you need I forgot to bring a few "specialty utensils" (like a zester) but found them in the drawers. Last time we were here I took advantage of the huge gas grill on the deck and grilled up some Gyros Mmm :-) it was to cold for that this time though. It's a good thing I actually LIKE to shovel snow because I unburied the BBQ at least twice LOL.

The bed.. ah.. *blissful grin* we joked that we would leave a blank check and load up the bed, mattress, bedding & all. We love the King size 4 post/canopy bed. We also love the comfy foam mattress, great sheets, and fluffy down comforter. We've stayed here twice and I sleep better in this bed than I do at home. The handsome man commented "They didn't cheap out on ANYTHING here" and he's right. Some of the vacation homes we've stayed in felt like they put junk they got at a yard sale as furnishings, the Creekside Cabin definitely does NOT feel that way.
